Do we need a permit to replace our Pier System if we are NOT changing the pier configuration? ANSWER: No

If we install a new pier system with a different configuration, do we need approval from the EPA to remove the old pods and support poles? ANSWER: No

If we install a new pier system with a different configuration, do we need a permit from the Indiana DNR? ANSWER: Yes

Are we required by the DNR to have Boat Registrations on file at all times? ANSWER: No

Do we need a permit to remove aquatic vegetation near our beach shoreline? ANSWER: The answer is NO if you are removing aquatic vegetation less than 50% of our shoreline with a maximum amount of 625 square feet. If more than 50% or 625 sf, then we will need a permit to remove aquatic vegetation. Removal of any aquatic vegetation should be within our Riparian Rights.

Do we need a permit to disturb the lake bed (ie… dredging and or muck removal)? ANSWER: Yes. This can be done mechanically or with chemicals. The use of chemicals is discouraged unless applied by a licensed professional.

Do we need a permit to install a sea wall? ANSWER: No if there is evidence of a pre-existing sea wall and you are installing a sea wall consisting of glacier stone. These are boulders that are stones created by glacier activity, no stone weighing in excess of 120 lbs., at least 90% of stones must pass thru a 12” sieve and finally, not more than 10% of stones can pass thru a 6” sieve. If there is no evidence of a pre-existing sea wall, then a permit is required but easily obtained for glacier stone sea walls.

Do we need a permit to install a new boat launch? ANSWER: Yes. This assumes that we will construct a new boat launch with the proper design. Repairing our improperly designed boat launch does not require a permit.

Click on the link below to review the official Indiana DNR Administrative Rule that addresses the issues listed above. Jim Price will attend our Town Hall Meeting on August 8th (10am EDT @ Beach Pavilion) to address any additional questions or concerns!

We currently have an Indiana DNR permit for the pea stone on the lake shore at our beach area as well as for our Pier System that was re-configured in 2016.

Check back soon to view these permits on this web page.
